Abstract: |
Currently there are many different guidance systems available in the market place. This research evaluated six commercially available guidance systems for overall performance in a series of field tests. The six systems were Cultiva, Mid-Tech, Outback, Raven, Satloc and Trimble. All systems used WAAS as a source of differential signal except one system, which used the OmniStar signal as a reference for comparison to the WAAS signal. The data collected was evaluated by examining the mean error and standard deviation of error calculated from the differences in actual position of the tractor relative to the calculated (desired) position. Other subjective factors such as ease of installation, operator interaction with the equipment and operational considerations were also considered in the study. | ||
